I’ve been eating an orange, and now I smell like delicious oranges.
Likewise, the orange peels in my trash can under my desk are making everything smell lovely and orangey.

Few things in this life rival the feeling of a puppy sleeping - and snoring - on your feet/legs.
When Hannah was just a little 16-lb bean, I loved when her warm, velvety body would slowly go limp in my lap as sleep overcame her, and her tiny, snorty snores melted my heart. Now that she’s pushing 100 lbs and curling up in my lap isn’t as easy (though she still tries!), she is...
Sudden, massive craving for caraway havarti cheese.

For laughs, go to UrbanDictionary.com and look up “dubstep.”
See, I’m old-ish. And though I try to keep current with many things, I know when the kids have bested me and I really just have no idea what the hell they’re talking about.
One such concept is “dubstep.” I don’t know what it is, I’ve never heard it, and I assume it’s for the...
A few things I’m inordinately happy about right now:
1) I only work two days this week!!
2) I have some money in my pocket, and I’m going to save most of it but use a little of it to buy some hand weights and a fancy scale that measures body fat and water percentage. Also, a pump for the exercise ball that my mother-in-law let me have.
3) I HAVE A SEWING MACHINE. Dear sweet...
So tired -
Christmas is a great big whirlwind of traveling and hecticness (which is not a word), of indulgences and overindulgences, of surprises and familiarity, all laced with a bit of bittersweetness and the sweet ache of wistfulness.
It was a good Christmas. Far more stressful than I would have liked, as I got sucked into so many other people’s issues, but very nice overall, as I got...
So I wake up, and there is this enormous cat in bed next to me, happily purring and kneading away on my bare shoulder.
At first, I was like “awww…”
And then I was like “um, OW.”
So I picked him up, gently put him down in the hallway, and closed our bedroom door.
Laying here in the dark, I’m pretty sure I’m bleeding a little. My shoulder feels like a fresh tattoo.

Must get up...
I am trying like hell to go home…
I just received what is probably one of the nicest sentiments I’ve ever gotten from someone I work (now worked, past-tense) with.
It’s nice when someone pays attention to what you say; it’s even more deeply appreciated when someone understands what you’ve said, takes it to heart, and then one day says to you, “I remember what you’ve said, and I appreciate you...

The hardest thing in the world is to need another human being. No man was ever prepared to be that vulnerable. Nothing to do but write. Absolutely nothing for it.
And now, for my next trick...
I will make my motivation DISAPPEAR!
