And I died.
These gorgeous cakes were made by J’Adore Cakes Co. - and I’m pretty sure that they cost as much as our entirewedding will cost.
But damn if they’re not pretty to look at.  I don’t think I could bring myself to eat them!

I’m on hold, and I don’t want the rep to pick up the line because I’m enjoying the hold music - it’s all Michael Buble!  Just got done with “Sway,” and now we’re on “The Way You Look Tonight.”

I don’t think I’ve ever enjoyed being on hold so much.

Has mankind outgrown Earth?
A new report from the World Wildlife Fund says we’re gobbling up the planet’s resources at such an alarming rate that by 2030, even a second Earth wouldn’t be enough to sustain us
Which resources are we depleting?Renewables like fish, water, timber, and food are being used up much faster than previously thought. According to experts, mankind’s “ecological footprint” is now over 50 percent higher than it was in 2008, meaning it takes 1.5 years for Earth to regenerate the natural resources we use up annually.
Why is our ecological footprint growing? The world’s population, which according to the U.N. surpassed 7 billion last October, is getting too big, and the average individual is using more than he or she needs. “The excessive demands that we are putting on the planet will inevitably lead to acute water shortages, a chronic food crisis, and rising prices for energy, metals, and minerals,” says Robert Walker at the Huffington Post.

Can’t say for sure how much of this I believe, but it certainly is food for thought.

It strikes me every so often that I do not write as often as I used to… and I’m not real sure why that is.

It’s not like life has become any less interesting, certainly. In fact, a lot of really cool things are happening right now.

First of all - I’m getting married in 36 days, which is surreal to think about. Three years ago, almost to the day, I bought this house I’m living in, not having ANY idea what was going to happen, on the cusp of a new relationship with someone I found to be both fascinating and infinitely approachable. And here I am, nearly three years later, about to marry this man - this man whom I met at a time in my life when I was honestly not at my best or most receptive for being in a relationship. Andrew has an uncanny ability to see past people’s flaws and see the good in them - and I think that this characteristic in him enabled him to see something in me that I refused to see in myself. It was a part of myself I wanted desperately to deny - the part of me that thought that maybe I just wasn’t cut out to be someone’s wife.

I’ll admit, there’s still a part of me that believes that. But Andrew is so easy to love, so easy to get along with, and so capable of stepping up and gently taking control when I am tailspinning.

A small part of me is absolutely terrified that something horrible could happen, but a life lived in fear is, to me, not worth living. Better to take the risk, I think, than walk around emotionally crippled.

Secondly - creatively speaking, I’m doing a hell of a lot. I’m dancing more now than I ever have, and I’m enjoying a role as a choreographer, as well. I’ve started taking bellydance lessons with Najia in Philadelphia and connecting with the art like I never have before. It’s not to say I didn’t love my old teacher, because I do - very much so - but I was just not feeling like she was going in a direction I wanted to be going.

Additionally…

Aw, man. I’m too tired and a little tipsy to keep writing. See? All the exciting things that are happening are stopping me from writing. :)

I am getting a rare moment of downtime, and this is how I have chosen to spend it this evening… on my deck, with wine and fire.
